Providence Parent Leadership Training Initiative (PLTI) is a free 20-week course designed to strengthen the civic and leadership skills of adults to support creating a caring community for children and families. In PLTI, parents cultivate skills to positively impact children and communities in Providence. With over 20 years of proven, result-based outcomes nationwide, PLTI enables parents to become stronger change-makers and leaders. Graduates may also  earn up to six college credits.

Class topics include: diversity, problem-solving, networking, using online and print media, understanding local and state government, and about public policy and how it affects them and their families.

Program details:

  • PLTI kicks off with an amazing day-long retreat on a Saturday.
  • Classes are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
  • Free child-care is available upon request if needed.
  • A free community dinner is included for parent participants and their children using the provided free child-care, from 5:00 - 5:30 pm for each class.
  • Meeting location on a bus line.
