Garcia Family

Manuel Garcia moved to Providence from the Dominican Republic and works as a metal/jewelry polisher. He first came to CAPP to apply for heating assistance and also received information about the Weatherization, Appliance Management Program (AMP) and LEAD Safe Providence programs. Lead was present in many areas of the home, presenting a hazard to his newborn daughter’s health. Weatherization and the LEAD Safe Providence program worked hand-in-hand to improve the energy efficiency of the home as well as the health and safety of the Garcia family. Some areas that were repaired or remediated included the siding, the exterior paint, the porch, basement windows, attic windows and also a roof repair. “I hope to see my daughter grow healthy and obtain a great education and build upon my beautiful family all in this home,” says Manuel. “The program helped my home in so many ways...keeping my home a lead safe area and having a home where we wouldn’t have to worry about cold air coming in.”
